    Soundcloud exodus…

I would love to continue making this netlabel/music blog happen but the times are a changin’…

First of all, I don’t know whether to continue doing anything under the “Color Sounds” name as it was originally conceived in order to make my own music more marketable or palatable with the entertainment industry - or with search engines at least! Today, I am just moving forward with making music mostly as a recreational hobby with the occasional business prospect. (you can find my latest music here)

Secondly, running a netlabel would have been a better idea years ago, when decentralization was the law of the land and digital streams/downloads were much harder to come by. Now a days, there are numerous websites that will allow you (Yes, even you! Imagine that..) to upload music and then link up with artists and listeners, fans, etc. using a familiar interface (like Facebook, Twitter, etc., etc.) and, until the day comes when artists or listeners demand greater decentralization, the efficiency offered by these trendy sites will just rule the world.

That being said, I believe Soundcloud is the new hotness for musical networking. It has been around for 2-3 years now and there is already a massive community established - one of my friends called it “the new dub plate special” (referring to the amount of free downloads to be found on Soundcloud). My favorite artists from this blog have soundcloud pages:

Lastly, this project was tied in large part to the spirit of the Rochester Killharmonic Orchestra, which unfortunately disbanded in the summer of 2010. A very short history lesson: The Rochester Killharmonic originated from Output:Noise, which has sustained an online presence for a long while after ceasing its own shows. Artists affiliated with O:N and RKO are better found thru the O:N online presence.

For those of you, especially thru Facebook (as I have 4x the following there), interested in the aims of this project, thank you for checking it out during its few months of modest operation.
